Shelly Oyston
Shelly has always painted. Ever since she can remember being a little girl it has been what she loves best and selling her first painting at the age of ten indicated that she had a natural talent for painting. She could sit in a room for hours on end with a brush and create something so exquisite; it was what she was always meant to do in life. Shelly studied chemistry at university for many years, but has now decided to concentrate on doing what she loves best – painting. A self-taught artist from South Northamptonshire who has now moved to the North East of England has a passion for capturing nature within her paintings. In Shelly’s own words “I am inspired by the world and all its living things. I enjoy having the freedom to paint all those things that I have seen and influenced me in some way”.
Shelly paints at a fast tempo which helps enforce the activity shown in her paintings. Using acrylics creates pieces that uncontrollably dry fast which urges Shelly to work quickly resulting in a frantic and atmospheric painting. She describes her work as “emotional and full of passion”, trying to get the viewer to feel the energy running through her paintings.
